What I've been up to, and a radical plan for what 'Annabel Air' would look like...
Dear Jasper,
I write this, with great joy in my heart, from the garden of your godfather’s house in Essex, where we are staying for a few weeks. The sun feels like it is infusing every cell in my body with liquid gold. Your little feet have touched grass properly for the first time (you weren’t sure about that at first).
Today I purchased off Facebook Marketplace (I wonder if that will still exist when you’re a grown-up - I hope so because I love it) the following, with prices for historical record:
A paddling pool shaped like a crab, complete with inflatable shade (£10)
A large selection of instruments, including bells, maracas, a triangle and some drums (£15)
A beautiful, heavy, old-fashioned wooden train that I can’t believe someone wanted to get rid of (£8)
A lovely Montessori-ish wooden activity cube (£7)
We’ve been pootling around in the glorious weather and I don’t think I’ve ever seen you happier. We really have to get out of Iceland.
